Dear Incarnation Parishioners:
Our stewardship theme for this year is “Lighting the Way with the Lord” with the power of the Holy Spirit. For this to happen, it is necessary for us to experience the Light of Christ in our lives, which means that we take time to pray and receive the sacraments. But then we must pass it on to others. This is the reason why I keep emphasizing to pray at least 15 minutes a day, in order to let the Light come in so that we may pass it on to others. And in the very giving of ourselves, we experience an enhancement of the Light of Christ in our lives. Stewardship is nothing more than taking time to receive the Light of Christ and then pass it on to others, thereby enhancing the Light in both our lives and theirs.
The weekend of February 25 and 26 is our parish's annual Stewardship Commitment Weekend. It is an important weekend for both the parish and for each of us. First, the Stewardship Intention forms will provide the parish with the means to determine the many ways that parishioners intend to share their blessings of time, talents, and financial resources during the coming year. Secondly, and perhaps more important, it is our opportunity as stewards to commit ourselves to Light the Way by using our gifts from God in service of others.
In preparation for Stewardship Commitment Weekend, I am asking that you do the following over the next few days. First, pray and reflect on God’s grace in your life and the many ways God has blessed you. Next, pray about how God is calling you to share your blessings as you continue your journey. Finally, I ask that you complete the enclosed Stewardship Intention form and then return it at Mass next weekend.
Each of us is called to be light to the world. By returning and then fulfilling your Stewardship Intentions, you are demonstrating your desire to continue your journey that allows your actions to give honor to God. Thank you for continuing to answer the call to live as a faithful steward of God!
Gratefully,
Fr. Christian T. Moore, OFM Conv.
